Low Vision is not being able to see as well as most other people when you are wearing your glasses or contact lenses, people may find daily tasks and hobbies difficult to achieve.
Some tasks/hobbies may include:
· Seeing the television or computer screens clearly.
· Reading.
· Knitting.
· Gardening.
Low Vision is commonly caused by:
· Eye diseases or Health disorders.
· Eye Injuries.
· Birth defects.
· Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
· Cataracts.
· Diabetic Retinopathy.
· Glaucoma.
· Retinitis Pigmentosa.
To qualify for Low Vision will be depending on your prescription, you must have a sight test within the last 12 months to assess this. If you do not qualify based on the prescription but feel you need extra magnification and lighting, Francesca can provide a Low Vision Assessment on a private basis.
Francesca Fulgoni is our Dispensing Optician & Low Vision Optician and is entitled to use the prefix of FBDO Prof Cert LV. A Low Vision Assessment is carried out to help patients with specific magnifiers and lighting to meet individual requirements to try and make the best use of your vision.
Francesca will assess each patients’ hobbies and vision to provide the best magnifiers and lighting to suit you, a variety and number of different low vision aids will be shown to you such as handheld/stand magnifiers, task light, shields and reading stands.
